Plus sized disco costumes, or plus sized costumes use to be a little tricky to find. Some costumes allow you to select your size, with the sizes ranging high enough to fit you. Other times a costume is “one size fits all,” and if you need a larger size it is a totally separate costume, and sometimes costs a little bit more. That was the case with my plus size disco costume. I also made sure that the pants had an elastic waist. After ordering my costume and having it shipped, the last thing I wanted was for the pants to be too big, or not big enough. With the elastic waist they fit perfectly and were comfortable. We all had a great time at the party, and now I have a disco costume for other Halloween parties down the road.

When I think of Halloween, I no longer think of scary tales and haunted houses. As an adult, many years separated from the pavement grind and filling of my pillowcase with sweets, I now associate Halloween with two things. First, I think of the Halloween party held every year at a friend’s house. And second, I think of all the crazy costumes people have worn to that party over the years. I think of how sexy some of the women at that party have looked, and how funny some of our costumes were that we wore. People would come from all over the state to attend this party, and every year was as fun as the last. Groups would show up in themes, like Scooby-Doo’s crew, or the Village People.

One of the best group themes was the disco dancers that showed up a few years back. They came in the house with their sequined shirts, bell-bottomed pants, even a disco ball and flashlight. The party kicked up a notch when they arrived, and we all boogied until we could boogie no more. Perhaps the excessive consumption of alcohol aided in the “boogie no more” part.

So last year, in preparation of “the big party” my friends and I decided to go as a disco crew. We were going to roll up to that party and come in hustlin. There wouldn’t be a wallflower in the place once we popped in some BeeGees and got our groove on. They wouldn’t know what hit them.

But first we needed costumes. Where do you get costumes? A trip to the local rental shop was, as always, a disappointment. First, you were renting these costumes for outrageous prices, not even including the accessories. Also, I have heard many horror stories about spilling one drink on a rented costume and having to buy it for an outrageous price once returned. Instead, one quick internet search revealed that there are many, many online costume shops. They sell instead of rent, so you get to keep your costume. I was glad to see such a selection online, because as a plus-sized man, it took some searching before I found something that would suit me.
